Thankful Thursday-Week 17 (August 1, 2013)

Not only is it Thankful Thursday once again, but it is already August! It feels as if the kids just got out of school and now it is almost time to go back. At least most of us have a few more weeks of summer left, so I should just stop complaining and enjoy what is left of the summer.

Most of the time, Thankful Thursday posts come easy. I am not finding it to be so easy today. That being said, sometimes all we can do is hold on to his promises. Lately, I have been holding tightly to the following promises:

Jeremiah 29:11-12 (NLT): For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.

Psalm 23 (NLT): The Lord is my shepherd; I have all I need. 2 He lets me rest in green meadows; he leads me beside peaceful streams. 3. He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name. 4 Even when I walk through the darkest valley,I will not be afraid, or you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me. 5 You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies. You honor me by anointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings. 6 Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever.

Matthew 11:28-29: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

Isaiah 40:29-31: He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless. Even youths will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion. But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I have many blessings in my life of which I am most thankful, but today I am feeling grateful for his promises; thankful for the hope of even better days. How about you? What are you thankful for today? What promises are you holding on to?

Until next time, stay safe and God bless,
Missy
